RoozenGaarde

The Tulip Fields. Part Two.
Hi there! I sincerely hope your weekend went splendidly. It went a little too fast for us, but doesn't it always? Saturday was supposed to be a fun, "out-of-the-house" day but there is never a truly convenient time for birth. ...(?) You heard me right! Our cat Dorothy had five little kittens and she wanted us with her, so we stayed. She is pretty proud of herself, showing them off and everything. Babies of all sorts are great! -Except baby spiders .... Oh! and monkeys. (Yuck) They both give me the heebee jeebee's pretty bad.

Other than that, our trip to RoozenGaarde was a blast! (I just love typing that. RoozenGaarde. RoozenGaarde. RoozenGaarde.) I was impressed when we drove to the first field but I am not going to lie, I felt a little disappointed. My friends were posting these pictures full of vibrant colors and the fields were beautiful, but just kinda, fields? Yup, we were missing something. After 10 minutes of looking at a map and giving up looking for the "You are here" text, we went off looking for the windmill. (Hey, it's what the map said to look for!) We drove around asking everyone "Where is the windmill?" getting lost and trying to follow the crowd. Finally we found it, and as a good friend of mine always says "It was happenin!"  but I'll let the photos speak for themselves.

I saw a mom letting her little girl take pictures of the flowers. I want to be that mom. Dear Onyx, learn to use those chubby fingers. I want to see the world from your point of view! Also, Jared made his rainbow shirt. He is quiet the designer. I am pretty proud. ^^

RoozenGaarde

The Tulip Feilds. Part One.
We finally went! To the tulip fields that is. Jared has wanted to take me for years but every Spring we couldn't go for some reason or another, until this year! It was so much prettier than I thought it was going to be. Jared, being the flower guy he is, had a blast. But enough of the talking, here are some pictures!

To be continued...

29 Reasons I Love Being Onyx's Mom

(In no particular order ;) )

1. I have to be a morning person, and I've been missing out. Mornings are actually quite lovely.
2. It has helped me to reprioritize my life.
(Do I really need to keep running back and forth, checking for status updates and likes? No.)
3. Playing with Onyx gives me a reason to use our camera more often.
4. Since having a baby, Jared has grown in his heart in the most pleasant sort of way.

5. I am someone's shelter.
6. It might be the most rewarding feeling in the world when I watch Onyx accomplish something.
7. Now somebody  likes my awkward dance moves. ;)
8. Being a mom has made me more crafty since I like to make him little things, or props for photo shoots.

9. I have everything ready the night before.
10. There have been so many times I have fallen back into God's hands when things get tough, when normally I would have a "I can do this all by myself, thank you very much" sort of attitude.
11. It's helped my sister in-law and I bond over our boys.
12. I've learned to accept that changing your mind a million times is okay, even if you say your choices out  loud, only to take them back.

13. Folding baby clothes makes doing laundry not so bad.
14. It's brought new strength to my and Jared's relationship.
15. Hearing Jared say he is proud of the mother I've become, ooooh, that friends, is sooo good.
16. Knowing that I am responsible for a little person's life has given me more confidence.

17. My body has never been so amazing. (I grew a baby y'all!)
18. My life has so much more purpose.
19. It's helped me swallow my pride and ask for help. I can't do everything alone!
20. I've learned to embrace the natural beauty of myself since I really don't have an hour to get ready in the mornings anymore.

21. It has given me a new found wonder and respect for Onyx's grandparents. (How did  they do it?)
22. We make cute babies!
23. Onyx doesn't mind when I sing out of tune.
24. Drying baby clothes on a line makes my heart happy.

25. It's helped me to be more patient.
26. I have another someone to can food for. (Yay! Garden fresh peas!)
27. I have someone to play ukulele for and he appreciates it even though I can't play.
28. He makes me cry out of happiness (My m.i.l would say "It's those mama horomones!" ;] )
29. I am better at being HERE - NOW, since I can only be in that one moment for that exact time. Oh I wish I could bottle it up. Even during the sleepless nights, the teething pains and constantly being wet via drool, spit-up, pee or who-knows-what, I love being a mama.

And of course we're ending just where we started. Baby Feet.

Happy Earth Day!

Howdy and Happy Earth Day to all my fellow tree huggers! I never knew exactly when Earth Day was and little did I care about it until recent years. The earth is just so freakin' amazing!  All it is, is a day to celebrate this wonderful planet we call home! Easy enough, no gifts out of obligation, no money needs to be spent, no arguing over who's house we are going too... It might just be my favorite holiday.  We simply go outside and appreciate.

And I love it. I also love these two. ↑ When we got home from our adventure we took a look at our photos and could not stop cracking up at this one. I wonder what on earth that boy was thinking!

Serious and mysterious album cover? I think it could work ;)

Sometimes, the world is so unreal in it's beauty.

One of Jared's co-workers was teasing us about our choice to name our boy Onyx. He felt it was oober hippy-ish. (I never thought of that...) So he asked "What's his name again? Moon Boy or something?" Actually,  Moon Boy fits him perfectly. Look at that little roundy head! ... Well, at least I like it and so far he doesn't mind.

 I just love these two!

Of course here I am throwing/cracking open rocks trying to find some exciting treasure inside.
No such luck, but they were still pretty cool.

These elk tracks led me on a hunt, totally abandoning my hubbs and baby to look for shed antlers. It's my dream to find some! After 10 minutes of running through the brush like a wild man and totally scratching up my new boots, I came back to reality and looked around. Where did my family go!?????

I still haven't found any, but there is still time.

I dreamed of moments like this for so long before Onyx was born. As hard as being a mom is sometimes, I wouldn't change my life for anything. Of course it's helps to have such a sweet boy and best friend to give your heart too, and pick you up when you fall down along the way. God is so good.

And there was our adventure. Happy Earth Day!

Genesis 1:31 And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.
